Some nice news for the composer Dejan Lazić:
in 2009 he has completed his six-year-long project, an arrangement of the beloved Brahms Violin Concerto for Piano and Orchestra – after Bach and Beethoven, who arranged their own Violin Concertos as Piano Concertos, here we have now the third great ‘B’ in such an arrangement: Lazić / Atlanta Symphony Orchestra / Spano.
The World Premiere took place on October 1, 2009 in Atlanta, USA. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and their music director Robert Spano joined Dejan and repeated the concert on October 2 & 3.
Channel Classics was there to record this World Premiere live…
The CD has been released in January 2010 and is already among Channel Classics’ bestsellers: Channel Classics: Brahms / Lazić.
Later this year, there are two European Premieres planned for BRAHMS / ARR. LAZIĆ – PIANO CONCERTO NO. 3 (AFTER VIOLIN CONCERTO, OP. 77): at the BBC Proms in London on 11 August (UK Premiere), and at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on 24, 25 & 26 September (Dutch Premiere).
The German Premiere of this work will take place in Hamburg in April 2012 at the prestigious festival Hamburger Ostertöne, the Japanese Premiere in Sapporo is scheduled for March 2012, and additional performances in The Hague and in Utrecht will take place in February 2012.
